January New Moon Horoscopes

Wormhole Wedgetail by Link

New Moon in Aquarius.
L.A. – Sunday – 23:41
SYDNEY – Monday – 18:41
LONDON – Monday – 07:41
NEW YORK – Monday – 02:41

The first new moon of the year is both beginning and ending. Beginning because a new moon always stands for a fresh start, a new endeavour, the empowerment of ideas.  They refresh and invigorate, an opportunity for metanoia--newness of mind.

This new moon is an ending too, as this is the last time in our lifetimes Neptune will be in Aquarius and it's long transit of Aquarius (1998-2012) will be charged by an Aqua moon.  Not so much parting shot, as opportunity for a fond farewell.

New beginnings are afoot.  Never has the *law of negative entropy been so apparent!  Choose your direction with confidence-- con (with) fides (faith.)   The confusing, complicating and somewhat alienating society of Neptune in Aquarius is over.  Time to make the myriad of wonderous interwoven connections means something real.  Time to follow your heart.

This month we get to remember to take the gifts we've learnt over the last fifteen years and discard the bullshit we don't need and know to be toxic to our souls and the planet.

♀ Venus is truly our goddess this month.  She has made a 'break for it', (very wise) and is in Pisces whom she loves because of the cruisy aesthetic 'altitude', very chilled.  Mercury is still in Capricorn. And Mars as we know has decided to give Virgos a run for their money hoping that eventually the rest of us will catch on.  Mars in Virgo till July.

Focus on where she is in your chart it is your sweet spot till the next new moon.

Aquarius

While Neptune may have been a confusing influence regarding how others perceive you, more recently, Saturn has been a clarifying one-- if only for self-understanding. The trine between Neptune in the late degrees of your first house and Saturn in the late degrees of Libra-- your ninth, is helping you understand yourself at a deeper level. Glimpses of that truth can now be seen by others as ‘truths’, become more ‘real’ in you. Today’s new moon in Aquarius is sextiling (i.e. 60 degrees) Uranus in Aries. You will certainly manage to ‘contain yourself’ while Mercury trawls through your twelfth—trined by Mars in Virgo in your eight. “Up. Down. Flying around. Looping the loop and defying the ground.” I don’t know what to suggest here. Venus in the second is tres noice. So, as they say,-- Make Hay. How about a new pair of sunnies or better yet, a new science! The Science of Psychic Energies. Sounds just about big enough.
2nd House

Pisces

It’s not the rumblings in the netherworlds that are making you a tad irascible. It’s some of the quicker paced planets, or usually quicker paced planets, aspecting each other here and there. Grumpiness and frustration will fall away within . . . well whenever you decide basically. . . . Use the power of today’s new moon and a blast of light into your deepest self, pick up something shiny and bring it to the surface, expressing it in beauty, science—art or just by releasing a heartfelt prayer to the universe at large. Our role on this planet are as tiny transformers of ‘stuff’ (loosely put) energy, ambrosia, air, water, chicken, charcoal, paper, film, everything is a food of sorts for Everything to offer up as a reflection of/to the Divine. We are conduits, refiners and transformers. It’s both elegantly simple and marvellously complicated. Meditation, art, long walks in nature will be more than a tonic for pesky, silly people. Saturn is busily working away at a structure to express Neptune. Don’t indulge in gossip with so much focus on your seventh house i.e, Mars,  there for the long haul until July. Trend a little deeper this month. Venus in your first is more than just a nice segue to next month’s new moon. You’re doing very well. . .

Aries

The new moon horoscope for Aries speaks all about the other people in your life and a new beginning for how important people are for you right now. The word is co-operation. This time next month Neptune will have left your 11th house of friends, groups and acquaintances and while you may be feeling exhausted and confused by the complexities and duplicities of some of the people in your life, take the first new moon of a still new year as an encouraging helping hand (or perhaps bridge engineer) to reconsider friendships that may have gone awry or have simply been neglected—a bit. Venus recently moved into your twelfth house to help you deal graciously with problematic and needy people, (so that’s a plus). You have a heart of gold dear Aries and the people in your life need your upbeat energy to put a smile on their faces too. This month you can do it with ease and wisdom. Your public and professional life with friends and colleagues is in the spotlight—communicating your needs and your plans and helping others less sure of themselves is aided by this month’s stellar line-up.
12th House

Taurus

Your career and dealings with the authority figures in your life are the focus of the coming lunar month. Mercury moved house around the time of the last full moon and you moved out of a long period of inner contemplation—almost too long. The new moon in January is in your house of public affairs. Mercury and Pluto in Capricorn (your ninth house) and Mercury trining Mars around about now, is spurring you on to seek out new knowledge and revolutionise your approach to your research. The way you translate incoming data is operating from a slightly different vantage—or gaze. This new position also means a subtle shift in the type and level of scrutiny you put upon others. Jupiter in Taurus is giving you plenty of energy and opportunity so soak up new knowledge and allow it to touch you. What you do in the world is becoming a little more known to you and this is giving you confidence. Do not become complacent, don’t waste a Jupiter transit! All that you learn that really touches you, is for good reason. Enjoy a lovely month of inspiring developments and new knowledge.
11th House

Gemini

January’s new moon is in your house of broadening horizons, study, philosophy and higher learning. With Venus transiting your tenth house much of the incoming impressions, messages and knowledge you are taking in, is for the month ahead connected to your public life. Basically, it’s research and schmooze time. The background churn in your life caused by a long stay of Mars in your fourth and Pluto in your eighth is being aggravated a bit by Mercury moving through. It’s been an intense month or more over Christmas communing with friends and rellies. Now it’s time to move onward and outward. Machinations will continue on around the fundamentals, come-what-may, but for the next month your focus is more on external realities. Soaking up good information you can use. Neptune moves house on February, 4th. ~ Please re-read last months’ new moon scopes.
10th House

Cancer

The sometimes insane social aspect of Xmas and New Year revelries are fading into the past. It’s always an intense time of year, dealing with partners, family, winding up the loose bits of business and the first new Moon of the year and the massive boost of the full moon past, signals not only a brand new cycle in your life, begun once again, but throws a spotlight onto all that you’ve learnt of things mysterious, otherworldly and Neptunian. Next month Neptune leaves Aquarius where it’s been for the last fifteen years. The beginning of 2012 is opening up new vistas and revolutionary opportunities for you, just as much as it is closing the door on old modes of thought. Keep the baby—ditch the bathwater. Give yourself time this month to enjoy the beauty of literature, music and art. Mercury will keep things moving along in the personal realm keeping with communications flowing easily. You can afford a little quiet introspection and the escape and ambrosia for the soul a little dose of culture can bring.
9th House

Leo

January’s new moon highlights your close personal relationships whether business or personal ties--an area that has been one of mystery and wonder and sometimes beautiful delight, when it wasn’t penetrating insights into people’s sometimes duplicitous ways. Use the energy of this moon and the illumination of the Sun’s transit of this house (the seventh) to clear up and move on. Clasping those who’ve been true for the last fifteen years with “hoops of steel” – Well, ok, hoops of steel is a bit dated and problematic, but know that those who’ve stuck by you, this month, you can know once and for all whether they be friend or foe. What does it matter anyway?   Let them eat cake!  Venus has just moved into your eighth house. Funds out of nowhere?  Mars is stirring up your second house of belongings, but you are not what you own--obviously that wouldn't make sense.  Any insights into health and welfare gleaned from self or others, be mindful of.   Don’t diss personal relationships even if they’ve been problematic for some time, not now anyway. Go beyond and roar into the New Year.
8th House

Virgo

Just before your 'sponsor' planet (Mars actually) (until July) goes retrograde tomorrow-- he forms a nice trine to Mercury (your beloved) whose travelling through Earth friendly Cap. Your children, your sense of adventure, how you enjoy and partake in the pleasures of life are all being nicely aspected as today’s new Moon in Aquarius reminds you it’s time to get back to work. It’s been a lovely holiday if only one taken in the mind. Although Mars in the first house is hardly a holiday. But the start of a new year—getting numero uno ‘sorted’ as the English say, is a theme for you and as it turns out for the rest of us, who have the best chance of getting a sense of Virgo ‘order’ now and for the next six months, as ever we’ve had of late. Where on earth would we be without the quick witted mercurial gaze of our Virgo compadres? Vagueness, duplicity, the pull between your work life and what you are doing in the world is all but over. You understand things about yourself now that would have seemed impossible ten years ago. Use what you’ve learnt go forth into a brave new world and thrive. Venus in your seventh house this month means a time of respite, ease and beauty in relationships.  Amen to that.
7th House

Libra

Saturn is going to station retrograde in Libra on the 8th of February, not moving forward again until June 25th. And not actually leaving Libra until October 6th. So a bit more processing of lessons-learnt-most-thoroughly for the greater part of this year. Mars in your twelfth house is deepening the thrust of some sober realisations. Don’t groan—but with everyone banging on about revolutions and fresh starts, you might be wondering wtf exactly do they mean. We’re never given more than we can handle and if we feel our threshold wearing thin remember to offer it up to be blasted in the bright white light of consciousness and be thankful you aren’t actually completely in charge or responsible for everything.  January’s new moon, the departure of Neptune, Venus in your sixth house are making the helpful suggestions to bring it all up a few fathoms and focus on the here and now, the day to day practicalities of what brings love and joy to your life. How you not be so serious, which you perhaps need to practise a bit, can seem like a difficult and paradoxical dilemma. Catch yourself being serious and then reach for a lighter, higher part of yourself and let the serious fall away.
6th House

Scorpio

Meanwhile . . . back at the ranch. The Sun and new Moon in Aquarius in your fourth house is turning your thoughts and energies towards your origins, your house, your sense of place, wherever that may be —and it is definitely somewhere. Any tensions between the demands of society – to put it loosely, and what you would like to convey to society regarding what is really wrong with it in your mind, will probably have to remain just that—tensions in your mind. As is always the case tensions are there to alert you and right now only as to what you could be worrying about. Sod that. Take note and move on.  Worry is a waste of energy.  Uranus has recently moved into your sixth house, so if real revolutions are needed in society, as undoubtedly they are, on many levels, you will have the impetus to be thinking creatively and powerfully about the practicalities of this. This will probably feed nicely into more everyday realities. This month some art, music and a nice outing to a beautiful place to pick some wildflowers for the kitchen will clear the cobwebs and can only help in your plans. Tra la la.

Sagittarius

If you’re inclined, this month would be a great one for a dinner party. You’re in the mood to communicate and so you must. You would be the perfect host.  And yes take heed of any message in there regarding hosts. You’ve got oodles of charisma surrounding you and with Saturn in your eleventh house, it’s pretty much guaranteed you won’t be suffering fools or parasites. Venus in Pisces in your fourth and making your sacred environment even more sacred and as a consequence more beautiful, is as they say ‘well aspected’--very.  Bring the light of beauty into your environment.  Beauty soothes, it harmonises and aligns, it’s an illusion on this plane, a beautiful illusion and for us wee, earthbound mortals it has a wonderfully calming effect.  All is right in my world. This month, a couple of weekends somewhere expansive, fresh flowers on the desk and maybe a few lively friends ‘round for dinner. Consider yourself lucky as usual Sag.
4th House

Capricorn

Unlike your Jovial buddy next door the new moon, first after Christmas—this year anyway is highlighting your second house of resources,-rent,-tax, that sort of thing.  It’s enough alright, already.  I understand, or perhaps that’s the problem, it seems like it’s not quite enough.  Nevertheless consider a clean sweep through this house and rationalise, quantify, itemise, whatever you have to do about things you might jointly, that you know in your heart of hearts you must attend to in light of the welfare of the N and D. Speaking of which, this month could transpire as a good one to celebrate nothing in particular and everything in general and to wine and dine the one (s) you love. Invest some of your lucre on a nice drive through and lunch in the country. You could just buy a shiny piece of tech,  but with Venus gracing your third house, I’d lean towards a nice lunch in the country with someone brainy and beautiful.
