I'm off down to the valley to pray today to meet up with the farrier to get Shep's feet trimmed.  That he has any hooves left, that they have not turned to complete mush is a miracle.

I sit down to write a post and the sun comes out--finally--a bit.  Washing needs hanging,  though it's a bit ugly out there right now.  Screamhouse gases next door have been going off for at least the last 48hrs.  Calling the cops has been crossing my mind, I wish I had big speakers to blast Beethoven at them.

So I was watching Voyage to the Planets narrated by the sexy and quite probably rakeish Richard Roxbrough the other night. . . . I heard Margaret Throsby interviewing someone, many moons ago, whose name I cannot remember.  He was an African American musician, whose mother was Jewish, which was kind of an unusual combo. So it was just as well I couldn't be bothered walking up the road to place a bet on today's Melbourne Cup. It's a very urban life here.  One forgets living amidst the houses and roads and hills that just a few hundred metres away there is an almighty void of sorts.  I always think of giant Hiawatha canoeing up these canyons.
